PictoTalk is an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app for iOS and macOS. It provides a fully customisable pictogram board that lets users build sentences and have them spoken aloud. It's built for people who need an alternative or supplementary way to communicate.

You need an internet connection to search for new pictograms. Once pictograms are added to your board, the board works fully offline. Text-to-speech uses voices downloaded to your device by iOS and does not require internet.

Tap the edit button (pencil icon) to enter edit mode, then tap any empty slot or the + button to add a new pictogram. Search for a pictogram, choose it, and save. You can also edit existing buttons by tapping them in edit mode.

Yes. In edit mode, create a new button and choose the "Folder" type. Tapping a folder button on the board opens a sub-board where you can add pictograms organised around a topic — like food, feelings, or school.

Tap pictogram buttons to build a sentence in the bar at the bottom of the screen. When you tap the sentence bar, PictoTalk speaks the sentence aloud using a natural voice in your chosen language. You can change the voice from Settings.

PictoTalk supports 17 languages for pictogram search and text-to-speech, including Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and more. You can switch languages from the board settings.

Yes. You can set a preferred skin tone in Settings, and PictoTalk will use it by default when adding new pictograms that include people. Five skin tone options are available.

All boards, vocabulary, and settings are stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server. If you delete the app, your data will be removed. I recommend exporting your boards periodically as a backup (Settings → Export).
